Gold by Timepiece uses state-of-the-art X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analyzers to determine the precise composition of your precious metal items.

This non-destructive testing method provides accurate results in seconds, allowing us to identify:

  • Exact metal purity (measured in carats for gold)
  • All precious metals present in the item
  • Verification of hallmarks or identification of unmarked items

The testing process takes just seconds and is performed right in front of you with full explanation, ensuring complete transparency.

How We Calculate Your Payment

Our valuation process is transparent and based on three key factors.

  • Metal Purity: We determine the exact purity of your items using XRF technology. Higher purity items (e.g., 18ct vs 9ct gold) receive higher valuations.
  • Weight: We weigh your items on calibrated scales right in front of you. The heavier the item, the more precious metal it contains, resulting in a higher payment.
  • Market Rate:We base our valuations on current market rates for precious metals, which are updated throughout the day. We're happy to explain the current rates during your visit.
